Duties: In this position you will serve as an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic, performing calibration, alignment, fault isolation, repair and modification of highly complex computer based automatic test equipment (ATE), their subsystems, associated test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) used in the depot overhaul of multiservice satellite, missile, radar and communications systems. You will certify all calibrations are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and comply with the calibration/certification requirements specified in the calibration programs of the individual services. You will troubleshoot and repair ATE, utilize diagnostic software to isolate defective subsystems, provide technical assistance during system upgrade or modification to TMDE users and other calibration laboratories. You will confer with ATE product manager, system manufacturer, Tobyhanna Army Depot and US Army TMDE Activity engineering personnel to recommended changes.

About the Position: Tobyhanna Army Depot is the largest, full-service electronics maintenance facility in the Department of Defense with a total installation work force of more than 5,000. The depots mission includes design, manufacture, repair and overhaul of hundreds of electronic systems for all branches of the Armed Forces. Trades and Labor

·  SCREEN OUT ELEMENT: Your resume must indicate your overall knowledge, experience, training and education (as stated in the major duties paragraph of this announcement) to independently perform the work of an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic. Resumes will be reviewed for experience/training which provided skills and knowledge of electronics equipment, assembly, installation, repair, etc.; using the proper test equipment (electronics); knowledge of electronic theory; ability to use hand and power tools - electronics; ability to troubleshoot (electronic equipment); ability to suggest and apply new methods. PHYSICAL EFFORT: The incumbent is required to lift, carry or otherwise handle items, which generally weigh less than 45 pounds. Sits or stands at calibration workstations or benches for extended periods of time. Frequent bending, stooping and reaching are required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work areas are generally well lighted, heated and ventilated. In many assignments it is required to work on-site at customer locations under variable conditions. Adherence to strict safety regulations and common sense work practices is required to prevent contact with high voltage electrical circuits, which could result in death. Incumbent is subject to minor burns, bruises and abrasions from occasional use of soldering irons, power hand tools and tools. Incumbent is subject to exposure to mercury vapors, ionizing and radio frequency radiation and lead fumes where adequate safeguards exist.

Ability to use and maintain appropriate tools and equipment. Ability to read, understand, and apply instruction and other materials related to the job.
