Dey Pharma, L.P. has an opening for an Instrumentation Technician located in Napa, CA.  We are a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development, manufacture and marketing of prescription drug products for the treatment of respiratory diseases, severe allergic reactions and psychiatric disorders.  Our company, is a subsidiary of Mylan Inc.

JOB SUMMARY:  This position is responsible for calibration and maintenance of validated instruments in compliance with the Master Instrument Calibration Program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs instruments calibration and services in electronic, time and frequency, temperature, pressure, mass, force, vibration, sound, light, level, flow and other disciplines per established procedures.
  • Documents calibration results per established procedures and maintains respective individual instrument files.
  • Maintains validated Computerized Calibration Management System (CCMS) database, performs respective data entry, verifies data accuracy and completeness, and generates required    reports.
  • Maintains and handles instruments for contractor’s calibration, collects and verifies respective calibration documentation per established procedures.
  • Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and replacement of the instruments related to systems that measure and control process variables.
  • Maintains respective calibration standards and test equipment.
  • Initiates respective calibration investigation and notification reports per established      procedures.
  • Assists with instruments installation, commissioning and validation, participates in instruments specification preparation, assists with assigned technical tasks.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
  • AS college degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
  • 2 years previous experience in instrumentation and/or calibration field.
  • Good interpersonal/group skills, good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform on-call duties per established policy.
  • Knowledge of ANSI/NIST standards, cGMP regulations, statistical and tolerance analysis, and equipment/material specifications.
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in database and spreadsheet software.
  • Must be adept with hand tools and standard test equipment.

US Person status required for this position. Perform calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of Measurement and Test Equipment including Automated Test Equipment (ATE) stations. Primary area of responsibility includes various genres of instrumentation including Direct Current (DC) and low frequency devices, oscilloscopes, data acquisition instruments, frequency counters, power supplies, Radio Frequency (RF)/Microwave equipment to 50.0 GHz, and automated test equipment. Develop calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science including an understanding of measurement uncertainty, technical analysis of measurement problems, and accuracy/precision requirements. The candidate will appropriately substitute standards or measuring equipment when required, and demonstrate the ability to maintain traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). An additional requirement is the ability to diagnose and repair malfunctions in complex measuring and test equipment to the component level using theories of operation, block diagrams, schematics, logic trees, and software diagnostics. Familiarity with Fluke Metrology Calibration (METCAL), Hewlett Packard (HP) Basic for Windows, and Labview is also highly desired.

Must be able to provide feedback to management on relevant ISO9000/AS9100, ISO-10012, and ISO-17025 calibration issues. Works under supervision, utilizes available resources to define/design systems, materials, components, software and methodologies to meet customer requirements. Candidate verifies that fabricated components, test systems or assemblies meet the design specifications. Uses established physical, mechanical or scientific principles to analyze and resolve laboratory or test related problems and anomalies in individual instruments and ATE. Identifies possible solutions; selects and implements resolutions that are practical and effective.

United States Air Force/Navy Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) School or equivalent preferred in lieu of, or in addition to an AA degree. Experience in a calibration laboratory is required.

Sets up standard and special purpose equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.

Soldering and rework, both through hole and SMT

REQUIREMENTS:
2 - 4 year technical degree or some college in a related field
5 years experience
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
Experience in troubleshooting and repair
R/F knowledge
Ability to read schematics and diagrams
Ability to lift 50 lbs

A qualified candidate will have the following:
 
US Citizen
Valid Driver License
PMEL or equiv. formal training.
Three years calibration experience.
