Duties: You will provide transfer level calibration, diagnostic evaluation, and incidental repair support in the direct current/low frequency microwave, physical/dimensional and optics parameters of test,
measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) and automated test systems (ASTs) for TYAD, DLA, Army National Guard and Reserves and back-up support for all calibration labs located in Region 1. Certify and calibrate a wide variety of TMDE transfer level calibration standards, ATSs, and environmental test chambers, attesting to the certification traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).  Perform diagnostic evaluation, analysis, and repair incidental to calibration, of a wide variety of TMDE and ATSs. Recommend new calibration, test, and inspection standards and associated test equipment. Evaluate, analyze, and repair designated TMDE from all Region I activities. Perform fault isolation correction and/or repair,  calibration, and certification of designated TMDE.

About the Position: The US Army TMDE Support Center-Tobyhanna is one of the largest TMDE Support Centers in the Army. Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York's picturesque North County, one of the most historically unique and geographically beautiful areas of the United States, offering bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities from hunting and fishing to winter sports of all types. Fort Drum is approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to the west, the Adirondack Mountains to the east, and the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands in between.

You must show the ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision; Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.; Use of Test Equipment; Electronics, Theory of Electronics, Ability to use Hand and Power Tools  Electronics, Troubleshooting (Electronic Equipment), Ingenuity (Ability to suggest and Apply new methods). PHYSICAL EFFORT: Is required to lift, carry or otherwise handle items which generally weigh less than 45 pounds. Sits and/or stands at calibration workstations or benches for extended periods of time. Frequent bending, stooping and reaching are required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Incumbents work areas are generally well lighted, heated, and ventilated. In some assignments it is required to
work on-site at customer locations under variable conditions. Incumbent is subject to minor burns, bruises and abrasions from occasional use of soldering irons, power hand tools and other tools. Adherence to strict safety regulations and common sense work practices is requires to prevent contact with very high voltage electrical circuits, which would likely result in permanent disablement or death. Incumbent may be required to travel and be in TDY status approximately ten percent of the time. Incumbent is subject to exposure to mercury vapors, ionizing and radio frequency radiation and lead fumes where adequate safeguards exist.

Experience and training that furnish the knowledges, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade. Ability to use and maintain appropriate
tools and equipment. Ability to read, understand, and apply instruction and other materials related to the job.  Ability to do the work of the position under normal supervision.

- Permanent full time position.  Cal Lab Company, which is located in a south suburb of Chicago is seeking a Quality Manager.  Cal Lab Company has been calibrating test equipment for industry for over 30 years.  We calibrate and repair on all types of electronic, physical, mechanical, and dimensional test equipment. 

 

Experience in the area of Quality Control which would include the following:

Knowledge and Understanding of:

 Calibration Methodology.  Statistical Techniques.   Measurement Uncertainties  Test Accuracy Ratio (TAR), Test Uncertainty Ratio (TUR) & Guardbanding Techniques.  ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 requirements.   Ability to write and validate calibration procedures.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Advise and monitor the effectiveness of the quality system.   Calculate Uncertainty Budgets.   Create, approve, review, modify, control and release all quality documents and data prior to issue.

 Validate Calibration Procedures.   Review and approve documents to assure that proper procedures and equipment are used.   Inspect completed quality related documents.

 Monitor laboratory compliance to quality procedures and assign calibration intervals to company equipment.   Determine the significance of the error found in non-conforming company equipment.

 Oversee the documenting of any corrective action taken.   Retain, maintain and distribute company quality records.   Implement the internal quality audit program, follow up and training.  Assist in the training of Technicians as required.

Position Summary:
This occupation requires initial and periodic testing, calibration, and certification of electronic and electromechanical test equipment - under manufacturing and standards lab conditions - prior to use in testing other equipment, components, and systems during quality acceptance.  In addition, perform diagnosis, repair, and modification servicing commercial and company-designed electronic and electromechanical test equipment, including functional and operational testing.
 
Minimum three (3) years experience in operation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of electronic and electromechanical test equipment in a manufacturing or standards laboratory environment, or equivalent technical training in calibration and repair of test equipment and metrology.
Must have worked from commercial test equipment service manuals, design drawings, sketches, handbooks, and engineering specifications.
Must have working knowledge of calibration quality requirements from standards such as ANSI/NSCL Z540, ISO 17025, or equivalent.
Must pass qualifying test.
Military Avionics, GPETE, PMEL, or TMDE training a plus.
